Changing the filter cartridge for the first time?

it's time i changed the filter on my ten gallon tank, it's fully cycled and i'm afraid of starting a new cycle. how do you suggest i go about changing the filter without having to change the water daily? could i put the new filter in and hang the old filter somewhere in the tank to build up the good bacteria on the new filter? i can't take any part of the filter apart because they are just cartridges and it's all assembled together

thanksChanging the filter cartridge for the first time? Some of the good bacteria should be in the gravel at the bottom of your tank. I may be a little rough on your fishy's, but the good bacteria from the gravel will make its way up into the filter too.Changing the filter cartridge for the first time?the filter is where your good bacteria is not in gravel.you should have 2 parts to your filter a white pad with carbon in it and a sponge looking thing. if you just take out the carbon part and replace it.rub the old one and new one to get some of your brown stuff (bacteria) off the old one and rub it on the new one you should be fine. if you dont have a sponge rub the pads together transfer the bacteria to the new filter and you should be fine. if you dont have a sponge you can go to a dollar store and get a green scratch pad the one with no soap or chemicals a plain jane one and put that in your filter closest to discharge side and that will hold the bacteria the next time you change your filter your setChanging the filter cartridge for the first time?Get some filter boost liquid from a pet shop. This contains the bacteria needed in the filter and will decreases the amount of time until it builds up naturally.
