How do i know when my filter needs to be changed?well the water in your tank is cloudy because there is a bacteria bloom which you need. you should NEVER change your filter media! only the carbon if you have it in the filter. everything else should never be changed. you should only rinse it in tank water so that you keep most of the bacteria otherwise your tank will go into a mini cycle which is what most likely happening in your tank at the moment.make sure you have no ammonia and nitriates. if you have then do immediate water change and keep doing them everyday until you have 0ammonia and 0nitrites. otherwise your fish might die.
